If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:

“我若见恨我的遭报就欢喜，见他遭灾便高兴；

“我若见恨我的遇难就欢喜，见他遭灾就高兴；

“我若见恨我的遇难就欢喜，见他遭灾就高兴；

“我何曾因敌人遭殃而欢喜，因他们遇祸而快乐？

我若因恨我的人遭灾祸而欢喜，或因他遇患难而高兴；

我若見恨我的遭報就歡喜，見他遭災便高興；（

「我若見恨我的遇難就歡喜，見他遭災就高興；

「我若見恨我的遇難就歡喜，見他遭災就高興；

「我何曾因敵人遭殃而歡喜，因他們遇禍而快樂？

我若因恨我的人遭災禍而歡喜，或因他遇患難而高興；

『我若因恨我之人的敗亡而歡喜，因他的遭禍而高興；（

我若因憾我者被滅而欣喜、緣其遭禍而氣揚、

仇有禍、未嘗欣喜踴躍。

何曾因敵遇災而喜、何曾因其遭禍而踴躍、

“ If I have rejoiced at my enemy’s misfortune or gloated over the trouble that came to him—

“ I wasn’t happy when hard times came to my enemies. I didn’t enjoy seeing the trouble they had.

“ If I have rejoiced at the ruin of him who hated me, or exulted when evil overtook him

“ Have I ever rejoiced when disaster struck my enemies, or become excited when harm came their way?

Have I rejoiced over my enemy’s distress, or become excited when trouble came his way?

“ Have I rejoiced at the misfortune of my enemy, Or become excited when evil found him?

“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted myself up when evil found him

If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found him

Have I rejoiced over my enemy’s distress, or become excited when trouble came his way?

If I have rejoiced over the misfortune of my enemy or exulted because calamity found him–

“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:Lest the LORD see[ it], and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker:[ and] he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify[ themselves] against me.

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing[ was] sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.I behaved myself as though[ he had been] my friend[ or] brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth[ for his] mother.

And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.

When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who[ thought] that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name[ was] Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men[ were] on his right hand and on his left.And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou[ art taken] in thy mischief, because thou[ art] a bloody man.
