“ If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,

“我的仆婢与我争辩的时候，我若藐视不听他们的情节；

“我的仆婢与我争辩，我若藐视不听他们的冤情，

“我的仆婢与我争辩，我若藐视不听他们的冤情，

我的仆婢告我，我也会讲公道，

我的仆婢与我争论的时候，我若轻视他们的案件，

我的僕婢與我爭辯的時候，我若藐視不聽他們的情節；

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

我的僕婢告我，我也會講公道，

我的僕婢與我爭論的時候，我若輕視他們的案件，

『我的奴僕或婢女與我爭訟時，我若藐視、不聽其情由，

僕婢與我有爭、我若輕視其情、

如我不公以涖下、使彼抱屈、

我僕婢與我爭辯、我何嘗使之負屈含冤、

“ If I have denied justice to any of my servants, whether male or female, when they had a grievance against me,

“ Suppose I haven’t treated any of my male and female servants fairly when they’ve brought charges against me.

“ If I have rejected the cause of my manservant or my maidservant, when they brought a complaint against me,

“ If I have been unfair to my male or female servants when they brought their complaints to me,

If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

“ If I have rejected the claim of my male or female slaves When they filed a complaint against me,

“ If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me,

If I have despised the cause of my man- servant or of my maid- servant, When they contended with me;

If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;

“ If I have disregarded the right of my male servants or my female servants when they disputed with me,

“ If a man strikes his servant or his maid with a rod, and he dies under his hand, the man shall surely be punished.Notwithstanding, if his servant gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the servant is his property.

“ If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.If he strikes out his male servant’s tooth, or his female servant’s tooth, he shall let the servant go free for his tooth’s sake.

You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

You shall not rule over him with harshness, but shall fear your God.

You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the foreigners who are in your land within your gates.In his day you shall give him his wages, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor and sets his heart on it; lest he cry against you to Yahweh, and it be sin to you.

If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.When you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty.You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your wine press. As Yahweh your God has blessed you, you shall give to him.You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God redeemed you. Therefore I command you this thing today.

You may make them an inheritance for your children after you, to hold for a possession. Of them you may take your slaves forever, but over your brothers the children of Israel you shall not rule, one over another, with harshness.

At the end of seven years, every man of you shall release his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years. You shall let him go free from you; but your fathers didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear.You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor. You had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name;but you turned and profaned my name, and every man caused his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom you had let go free at their pleasure, to return. You brought them into subjection, to be to you for servants and for handmaids.’”Therefore Yahweh says:“ You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says Yahweh,“ to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.

Masters, give to your servants that which is just and equal, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
