浸假當時無生、我今可宴然安寢、

若非如此、則久已偃臥安逸、長眠寧靜、

For now I would be lying down in peace; I would be asleep and at rest

If all of that hadn’t happened, I would be lying down in peace. I’d be asleep and at rest in the grave.

For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest,

Had I died at birth, I would now be at peace. I would be asleep and at rest.

If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, however many they may be, but his soul is not satisfied with good things and he does not even have a proper burial, then I say,“ Better the miscarriage than he,for a miscarriage comes in futility and goes into darkness; and its name is covered in darkness.It has not even seen the sun nor does it know it; yet it is better off than that man.

The eye of him who sees me will no longer look at me; Your eyes will be on me, but I will not exist.When a cloud vanishes, it is gone; In the same way one who goes down to Sheol does not come up.He will not return to his house again, Nor will his place know about him anymore.

They spend their days in prosperity, And suddenly they go down to Sheol.

Whom I, on my part, shall behold for myself, And whom my eyes will see, and not another. My heart faints within me!

But a man dies and lies prostrate. A person passes away, and where is he?As water evaporates from the sea, And a river becomes parched and dried up,So a man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens no longer exist, He will not awake nor be woken from his sleep.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

The land of utter gloom like darkness itself, Of deep shadow without order, And it shines like darkness.”

Why then do You not forgive my wrongdoing And take away my guilt? For now I will lie down in the dust; And You will search for me, but I will no longer exist.”
