The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.

He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before.It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life.They prove the truth of this proverb:“ A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says,“ A washed pig returns to the mud.”

When they arrived he declared,“ You know that from the day I set foot in the province of Asia until nowI have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that came to me from the plots of the Jews.

The Lord rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence.For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I have not turned from my God to follow evil.I have followed all his regulations; I have never abandoned his decrees.I am blameless before God; I have kept myself from sin.The Lord rewarded me for doing right. He has seen my innocence.

We can say with confidence and a clear conscience that we have lived with a God given holiness and sincerity in all our dealings. We have depended on God’s grace, not on our own human wisdom. That is how we have conducted ourselves before the world, and especially toward you.

Everything they say is crooked and deceitful. They refuse to act wisely or do good.

And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the Lord’s guidance or seek my blessings.”

Your king is now your leader. I stand here before you— an old, gray haired man— and my sons serve you. I have served as your leader from the time I was a boy to this very day.Now testify against me in the presence of the Lord and before his anointed one. Whose ox or donkey have I stolen? Have I ever cheated any of you? Have I ever oppressed you? Have I ever taken a bribe and perverted justice? Tell me and I will make right whatever I have done wrong.”“ No,” they replied,“ you have never cheated or oppressed us, and you have never taken even a single bribe.”“ The Lord and his anointed one are my witnesses today,” Samuel declared,“ that my hands are clean.”“ Yes, he is a witness,” they replied.

The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation.The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity.And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.

“ I have never coveted anyone’s silver or gold or fine clothes.You know that these hands of mine have worked to supply my own needs and even the needs of those who were with me.

You yourselves are our witnesses— and so is God— that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers.
