“ Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

『人對上帝哪能有用處呢？明智人只能對自己有用處而已。

世人豈能益上帝乎、智者祇益己耳、

賢者惟自獲其益、原無所裨於上帝。

世人豈能益於天主乎、智慧者智慧者或作賢者惟自益耳、

“ Can a man be of benefit to God? Can even a wise person benefit him?

“ Can any person be of benefit to God? Can even a wise person be of any help to him?

“ Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

“ Can a person do anything to help God? Can even a wise person be helpful to him?

Can a man be of any use to God? Can even a wise man be of use to him?

“ Can a strong man be of use to God, Or a wise one be useful to himself?

“ Can a man be profitable to God, Though he who is wise may be profitable to himself?

Can a man be profitable unto God? Surely he that is wise is profitable unto himself.

Can a man be of any use to God? Can even a wise man be of use to Him?

Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

“ Is it to God that a strong man is of benefit? Is it to him that even a wise man is profitable?

Even so you also, when you have done all the things that are commanded you, say,‘ We are unworthy servants. We have done our duty.’”

My soul, you have said to Yahweh,“ You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing.”

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her.

If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man.

What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’

Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

to keep Yahweh’s commandments and statutes, which I command you today for your good?

If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it.

If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.

Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun.For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor when you embrace her.She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you.”
