貧民則欺壓遺棄、強據第宅、並不自建、

For he has oppressed the poor and left them destitute; he has seized houses he did not build.

They’ve crushed poor people and left them with nothing. They’ve taken over houses they didn’t even build.

For he has crushed and abandoned the poor; he has seized a house that he did not build.

For he oppressed and abandoned the poor; he seized a house he did not build.

For he has oppressed and neglected the poor; He has seized a house which he has not built.

For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor, He has violently seized a house which he did not build.

For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; He hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.

“ People cry out when they are oppressed. They groan beneath the power of the mighty.

Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors him.

“ If I have been unfair to my male or female servants when they brought their complaints to me,how could I face God? What could I say when he questioned me?For God created both me and my servants. He created us both in the womb.“ Have I refused to help the poor, or crushed the hopes of widows?Have I been stingy with my food and refused to share it with orphans?No, from childhood I have cared for orphans like a father, and all my life I have cared for widows.Whenever I saw the homeless without clothes and the needy with nothing to wear,did they not praise me for providing wool clothing to keep them warm?“ If I raised my hand against an orphan, knowing the judges would take my side,then let my shoulder be wrenched out of place! Let my arm be torn from its socket!

Evil people steal land by moving the boundary markers. They steal livestock and put them in their own pastures.They take the orphan’s donkey and demand the widow’s ox as security for a loan.The poor are pushed off the path; the needy must hide together for safety.Like wild donkeys in the wilderness, the poor must spend all their time looking for food, searching even in the desert for food for their children.They harvest a field they do not own, and they glean in the vineyards of the wicked.All night they lie naked in the cold, without clothing or covering.They are soaked by mountain showers, and they huddle against the rocks for want of a home.“ The wicked snatch a widow’s child from her breast, taking the baby as security for a loan.The poor must go about naked, without any clothing. They harvest food for others while they themselves are starving.They press out olive oil without being allowed to taste it, and they tread in the winepress as they suffer from thirst.The groans of the dying rise from the city, and the wounded cry for help, yet God ignores their moaning.

If people crush underfoot all the prisoners of the land,

Again, I observed all the oppression that takes place under the sun. I saw the tears of the oppressed, with no one to comfort them. The oppressors have great power, and their victims are helpless.

“ Look, I know what you’re thinking. I know the schemes you plot against me.You will tell me of rich and wicked people whose houses have vanished because of their sins.

The nation of Israel is the vineyard of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The people of Judah are his pleasant garden. He expected a crop of justice, but instead he found oppression. He expected to find righteousness, but instead he heard cries of violence.What sorrow for you who buy up house after house and field after field, until everyone is evicted and you live alone in the land.

“ For example, you must have lent money to your friend and demanded clothing as security. Yes, you stripped him to the bone.

Listen to me, you fat cows living in Samaria, you women who oppress the poor and crush the needy, and who are always calling to your husbands,“ Bring us another drink!”The Sovereign Lord has sworn this by his holiness:“ The time will come when you will be led away with hooks in your noses. Every last one of you will be dragged away like a fish on a hook!You will be led out through the ruins of the wall; you will be thrown from your fortresses,” says the Lord.

For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Even common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice.

A foreign nation you have never heard about will eat the crops you worked so hard to grow. You will suffer under constant oppression and harsh treatment.

Now testify against me in the presence of the Lord and before his anointed one. Whose ox or donkey have I stolen? Have I ever cheated any of you? Have I ever oppressed you? Have I ever taken a bribe and perverted justice? Tell me and I will make right whatever I have done wrong.”“ No,” they replied,“ you have never cheated or oppressed us, and you have never taken even a single bribe.”

But you dishonor the poor! Isn’t it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?

Don’t rob the poor just because you can, or exploit the needy in court.For the Lord is their defender. He will ruin anyone who ruins them.

Don’t be surprised if you see a poor person being oppressed by the powerful and if justice is being miscarried throughout the land. For every official is under orders from higher up, and matters of justice get lost in red tape and bureaucracy.

When you want a piece of land, you find a way to seize it. When you want someone’s house, you take it by fraud and violence. You cheat a man of his property, stealing his family’s inheritance.

You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them.

You have evicted women from their pleasant homes and forever stripped their children of all that God would give them.

Give him this message:‘ This is what the Lord says: Wasn’t it enough that you killed Naboth? Must you rob him, too? Because you have done this, dogs will lick your blood at the very place where they licked the blood of Naboth!’”

“ If my land accuses me and all its furrows cry out together,or if I have stolen its crops or murdered its owners,

The homes of the wicked will burn down; burning sulfur rains on their houses.

There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.

The Lord replies,“ I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.”
