他們又把塵土撒在自己頭上，痛哭悲哀，喊著說：‘有禍了！有禍了！這大城啊！凡是有船航行海上的，都因這城的財寶發了財；一時之間她竟成了荒場！’

他剛說完了，王的眾子就都來到了，他們都放聲大哭；王和他所有的臣僕也都號咷痛哭。

錫安的貴族素來比雪更明亮，比奶更潔白；他們的身體比紅寶石更紅潤，他們的樣貌像藍寶石一樣美麗。現在他們的面貌比煤炭還黑，在街上再沒有人認得他們；他們皮包骨頭，枯瘦如柴。

我的親戚離棄我，我的朋友忘記我；

耶和華的使者對以色列眾人說這些話的時候，眾人就放聲大哭。

以掃聽了他父親的話，就非常痛心，放聲大哭，對他父親說：“我父啊，求你也給我祝福。”

使者到了掃羅住的基比亞，把這些話說給眾民聽，眾民就都放聲大哭。
