For my life is full of troubles, and death draws near.I am as good as dead, like a strong man with no strength left.They have left me among the dead, and I lie like a corpse in a grave. I am forgotten, cut off from your care.

What if I go to the grave and make my bed in darkness?What if I call the grave my father, and the maggot my mother or my sister?

My breath is repulsive to my wife. I am rejected by my own family.

Job lived 140 years after that, living to see four generations of his children and grandchildren.

For I will not fight against you forever; I will not always be angry. If I were, all people would pass away— all the souls I have made.

But I don’t have the strength to endure. I have nothing to live for.
