拿著堅盾傲慢地挑戰祂。

用盾牌的厚凸面，硬著頸項向他直闖。

挺着脖子、向全能者直闖，用盾牌的厚凸面自衛着；

彼強厥項、以厚盾衝突之、

挺身馳突、以厚盾自衛。

挺身前趨、取厚盾以敵之、

defiantly charging against him with a thick, strong shield.

They boldly charge against him with their thick, strong shields.

running stubbornly against him with a thickly bossed shield;

Holding their strong shields, they defiantly charge against him.

He rushes headlong at him with his thick, studded shields.

He rushes headlong at Him With his massive shield.

Running stubbornly against Him With his strong, embossed shield.

He runneth upon him with a stiff neck, With the thick bosses of his bucklers;

He rushes headlong at Him with his thick, studded shields.

He runneth upon him,[ even] on[ his] neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:

defiantly charging against him with a thick, strong shield!

I was at ease, and he broke me apart. Yes, he has taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces. He has also set me up for his target.

Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”His servants spoke yet more against Yahweh God, and against his servant Hezekiah.He also wrote letters insulting Yahweh, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying,“ As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”

You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.

“ Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down before you.
