Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,

因其舉手以攻上帝、狂傲以敵全能者、

惡人自恃其勇、狂悖成性、侮慢全能之上帝。

因其舉手抗拒天主、妄恃己力、侮慢全能之主、

because he shakes his fist at God and vaunts himself against the Almighty,

They shake their fists at God. They brag about themselves and oppose the Mighty One.

Because he has stretched out his hand against God and defies the Almighty,

For they shake their fists at God, defying the Almighty.

For he has stretched out his hand against God and has arrogantly opposed the Almighty.

Because he has reached out with his hand against God, And is arrogant toward the Almighty.

For he stretches out his hand against God, And acts defiantly against the Almighty,

Because he hath stretched out his hand against God, And behaveth himself proudly against the Almighty;

For he has stretched out his hand against God and has arrogantly opposed the Almighty.

For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.

for he stretches out his hand against God, and vaunts himself against the Almighty,

God who is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him and prospered?

Why then do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had worked wonderfully among them, didn’t they let the people go, and they departed?

“ Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”

They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.

then he shows them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.

but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.

“ Your words have been stout against me,” says Yahweh.“ Yet you say,‘ What have we spoken against you?’

Pharaoh said,“ Who is Yahweh, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know Yahweh, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”They said,“ The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Yahweh, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”

They say,“ How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”

Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand, for God is with us.”

Wrath is not in me, but if I should find briers and thorns, I would do battle! I would march on them and I would burn them together.

Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?“ Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty.Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low.

Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.

because you still exalt yourself against my people, that you won’t let them go.

The Philistines were afraid, for they said,“ God has come into the camp.” They said,“ Woe to us! For there has not been such a thing before.Woe to us! Who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods that struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.Be strong and behave like men, O you Philistines, that you not be servants to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Strengthen yourselves like men, and fight!”

Who has worked and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, Yahweh, the first, and with the last, I am he.”The islands have seen, and fear. The ends of the earth tremble. They approach, and come.Everyone helps his neighbor. They say to their brothers,“ Be strong!”So the carpenter encourages the goldsmith. He who smoothes with the hammer encourages him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good;” and he fastens it with nails, that it might not totter.

“‘ If by these things you won’t be turned back to me, but will walk contrary to me,

Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory. Then he was eaten by worms and died.

He said,“ Who are you, Lord?” The Lord said,“ I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.For he has said,“ By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers.My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, I have gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped.”
