You, however, smear me with lies; you are worthless physicians, all of you!

But you spread lies about me and take away my good name. If you are trying to heal me, you aren’t very good doctors!

As for you, you whitewash with lies; worthless physicians are you all.

As for you, you smear me with lies. As physicians, you are worthless quacks.

You use lies like plaster; you are all worthless healers.

Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. (niv)

“ Go up to Gilead and get balm, Virgin Daughter Egypt. But you try many medicines in vain; there is no healing for you. (niv)

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people? (niv)

Who repays them for what they have done?They are carried to the grave, and watch is kept over their tombs.The soil in the valley is sweet to them; everyone follows after them, and a countless throng goes before them.“ So how can you console me with your nonsense? Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert what is right?When your children sinned against him, he gave them over to the penalty of their sin. (niv)

You demanded security from your relatives for no reason; you stripped people of their clothing, leaving them naked.You gave no water to the weary and you withheld food from the hungry,though you were a powerful man, owning land— an honored man, living on it.And you sent widows away empty-handed and broke the strength of the fatherless.That is why snares are all around you, why sudden peril terrifies you,why it is so dark you cannot see, and why a flood of water covers you.“ Is not God in the heights of heaven? And see how lofty are the highest stars!Yet you say,‘ What does God know? Does he judge through such darkness?Thick clouds veil him, so he does not see us as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.’Will you keep to the old path that the wicked have trod?They were carried off before their time, their foundations washed away by a flood.They said to God,‘ Leave us alone! You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. (niv)

Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the Lord.“ They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least,” declares the Lord. (niv)

On hearing this, Jesus said to them,“ It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (niv)

Now you too have proved to be of no help; you see something dreadful and are afraid. (niv)
