In fact, I long to speak to the Mighty One. I want to argue my case with God.

But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue my case with God.

As for me, I would speak directly to the Almighty. I want to argue my case with God himself.

Yet I prefer to speak to the Almighty and argue my case before God.

“ But I would speak to the Almighty, And I desire to argue with God.

But I would speak to the Almighty, And I desire to reason with God.

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, And I desire to reason with God.

“ Surely I would speak to the Almighty. I desire to reason with God.

Then summon me and I will answer, or let me speak, and you reply to me.

Though they wished to dispute with him, they could not answer him one time out of a thousand.

If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling!I would state my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.I would find out what he would answer me, and consider what he would say to me.Would he vigorously oppose me? No, he would not press charges against me.There the upright can establish their innocence before him, and there I would be delivered forever from my judge.

“ Hear, you mountains, the Lord’s accusation; listen, you everlasting foundations of the earth. For the Lord has a case against his people; he is lodging a charge against Israel.

You are always righteous, Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?You have planted them, and they have taken root; they grow and bear fruit. You are always on their lips but far from their hearts.

Oh, how I wish that God would speak, that he would open his lips against you

someone to remove God’s rod from me, so that his terror would frighten me no more.Then I would speak up without fear of him, but as it now stands with me, I cannot.

Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face.
