People who are at ease mock those in trouble. They give a push to people who are stumbling.

Those who are at ease have contempt for misfortune as the fate of those whose feet are slipping.

People who have an easy life look down on those who have problems. They think trouble comes only to those whose feet are slipping.

In the thought of one who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune; it is ready for those whose feet slip.

The one who is at ease holds calamity in contempt and thinks it is prepared for those whose feet are slipping.

He who is at ease holds disaster in contempt, As prepared for those whose feet slip.

A lamp is despised in the thought of one who is at ease; It is made ready for those whose feet slip.

In the thought of him that is at ease there is contempt for misfortune; It is ready for them whose foot slippeth.

For calamity, there is derision( according to the ideas of the fortunate)– a fate for those whose feet slip!

What sorrow awaits you who lounge in luxury in Jerusalem, and you who feel secure in Samaria! You are famous and popular in Israel, and people go to you for help.But go over to Calneh and see what happened there. Then go to the great city of Hamath and down to the Philistine city of Gath. You are no better than they were, and look at how they were destroyed.You push away every thought of coming disaster, but your actions only bring the day of judgment closer.How terrible for you who sprawl on ivory beds and lounge on your couches, eating the meat of tender lambs from the flock and of choice calves fattened in the stall.You sing trivial songs to the sound of the harp and fancy yourselves to be great musicians like David.You drink wine by the bowlful and perfume yourselves with fragrant lotions. You care nothing about the ruin of your nation.

If you insult your father or mother, your light will be snuffed out in total darkness.

The life of the godly is full of light and joy, but the light of the wicked will be snuffed out.

Give glory to the Lord your God before it is too late. Acknowledge him before he brings darkness upon you, causing you to stumble and fall on the darkening mountains. For then, when you look for light, you will find only terrible darkness and gloom.
