“ Without a doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

爾曹為民、無疑也、智慧將與爾偕亡、

爾豈人中之俊乎、爾曹若死、宇宙間豈無哲人哉。

爾為民中俊者、無疑也、爾以為若死、智慧遂同死、或作爾豈民中之俊乎爾曹若死智慧亦死乎

“ Doubtless you are the only people who matter, and wisdom will die with you!

“ You people think you are the only ones who matter! You are sure that wisdom will die with you!

“ No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

“ You people really know everything, don’t you? And when you die, wisdom will die with you!

No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you!

“ Truly then you are the people, And with you wisdom will die!

“ No doubt you are the people, And wisdom will die with you!

No doubt but ye are the people, And wisdom shall die with you.

Because you have closed their minds to understanding, therefore you will not exalt them.

I said to myself,‘ Age should speak, and length of years should make wisdom known.’But it is a spirit in people, the breath of the Almighty, that makes them understand.It is not the aged who are wise, nor old men who understand what is right.Therefore I say,‘ Listen to me. I, even I, will explain what I know.’Look, I waited for you to speak; I listened closely to your wise thoughts, while you were searching for words.Now I was paying you close attention, yet there was no one proving Job wrong, not one of you was answering his statements!So do not say,‘ We have found wisdom! God will refute him, not man!’

“ Teach me and I, for my part, will be silent; explain to me how I have been mistaken.How painful are honest words! But what does your reproof prove?

When I hear a reproof that dishonors me, then my understanding prompts me to answer.

“ For inquire now of the former generation, and pay attention to the findings of their ancestors;For we were born yesterday and do not have knowledge, since our days on earth are but a shadow.Will they not instruct you and speak to you, and bring forth words from their understanding?

“ But turn, all of you, and come now! I will not find a wise man among you.

Those who think they are wise are as good as dead, those who think they possess understanding.

I say this to your shame! Is there no one among you wise enough to settle disputes between fellow Christians?

and reveal to you the secrets of wisdom– for true wisdom has two sides– so that you would know that God has forgiven some of your sins.

“ Does a wise man answer with blustery knowledge, or fill his belly with the east wind?

We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, we are dishonored!

A rich person is wise in his own eyes, but a discerning poor person can evaluate him properly.

“ Should not this abundance of words be answered, or should this talkative man be vindicated?

But an empty man will become wise, when a wild donkey’s colt is born a human being.
