While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said,“ Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, a fourth messenger came. He said,“ Your sons and daughters were at their oldest brother’s house. They were enjoying good food and drinking wine.

While he was yet speaking, there came another and said,“ Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news:“ Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother’s home.

He was still speaking when another messenger came and reported,“ Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house.

有一天，約伯的兒女正在他們長兄的家裡吃飯喝酒的時候，

他的兒子素常輪流各按自己的日子在家擺設筵席，並且打發人去邀請他們的三個姊妹來一同吃喝。

“雖然我使你們各城的人牙齒乾淨，各處都缺乏糧食；但你們仍不歸向我。”這是耶和華的宣告。“我曾在收割前三個月，不降雨給你們；我降雨給一個城，在另一個城卻不降雨；我在一塊地降雨，另一塊地沒有雨水就枯乾了。兩三個城的居民擠到一個城去找水喝，卻沒有足夠的水喝；但你們仍不歸向我。”這是耶和華的宣告。“我曾多次用熱風和霉爛擊打你們的園子和葡萄園，叫蝗蟲吃光你們的無花果樹和橄欖樹；但你們仍不歸向我。”這是耶和華的宣告。“我在你們中間降下瘟疫，正如臨到埃及的瘟疫一樣；我用刀殺掉你們的年輕人，你們被擄去的馬匹也遭殺戮；我使你們營裡死屍的臭氣撲鼻，但你們仍不歸向我。”這是耶和華的宣告。“我傾覆你們，就像傾覆所多瑪和蛾摩拉一樣；你們像一根木柴，從火裡抽出來；但你們仍不歸向我。”這是耶和華的宣告。

押沙龍吩咐他的僕人說：“你們注意！暗嫩酒酣耳熱的時候，我對你們說：‘擊殺暗嫩！’你們就把他殺死。不要懼怕，這不是我吩咐你們的嗎？你們要堅強，作勇敢的人。”

“直到今日我還有苦情要申訴，我雖然歎息，他的手仍然沉重。

義人雖有許多苦難，但耶和華搭救他脫離這一切。

即使他的兒女增多，還是被刀劍所殺，他的子孫也必永不得飽食；

每次掃過的時候，都把你們抓去；因為每早晨它必漫過，白天與黑夜也是這樣；人若明白所傳的，必受驚恐。

眾人的命運都是一樣的：義人與惡人、好人與壞人、潔淨的與不潔淨的、獻祭的與不獻祭的，所遭遇的都是一樣的；好人怎樣，罪人也怎樣；起誓的怎樣，怕起誓的也怎樣。

你的兒女若得罪了他，他就因他們的過犯撇棄他們。

驛卒一個接一個跑來，報信的也相繼而至，向巴比倫王報告，他的京城已經完全被攻取了。

他把我破傷，在破口上又加破傷，如勇士一般向我直衝。

他從我身上剝去我的榮耀，又挪去我頭上的冠冕。他四面拆毀我，我就離世，他又把我這指望如樹枝一樣拔出來。

“但願稱稱我的煩惱，把我的災害一起放在天平上。現在這些都比海沙更重，所以我冒失發言。

所有過路的人啊！你們毫不在意嗎？你們要細察要觀看，有沒有痛苦像我所受的痛苦，就是耶和華在他發烈怒的日子使我所受的痛苦。
