They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said,“ All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”

When they persisted in questioning him, he stood up and said to them,“ The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

“ Judge not, that you be not judged.For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?Or how can you say to your brother,‘ Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal?You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law.For, as it is written,“ The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things.Do you suppose, O man— you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself— that you will escape the judgment of God?

On the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness.The hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

But to the wicked God says:“ What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips?For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you.If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.“ You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit.You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.

Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself.Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.

In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.

From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.

The officers answered,“ No one ever spoke like this man!”

Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.
