Why don’t you understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot accept my teaching.

你们为什么不明白我的话呢？无非是因你们不能听我的道。

為甚麼你們不明白我的說法呢？無非是因為你們不能聽我的話啊。

你們為什麼不明白我的話呢？這是因為你們聽不進我的話語。

爾何不達我言乎、不能聽我道故也、

爾不明我言、何歟、不聽我道故也、

爾胡不明我言、因爾不能聽我道故也、

爾曹之莫明吾言何也？實緣爾曹不堪聞吾道耳。

Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.

Why aren’t my words clear to you? Because you can’t really hear what I say.

Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word.

Why can’t you understand what I am saying? It’s because you can’t even hear me!

Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.

Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word.

because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me. If someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.

If anyone wants to do God’s will, he will know about my teaching, whether it is from God or whether I speak from my own authority.

For this reason they could not believe, because again Isaiah said,“ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and understand with their heart, and turn to me, and I would heal them.”

Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, said,“ This is a difficult saying! Who can understand it?”

I answered,“ Who would listen if I spoke to them and warned them? Their ears are so closed that they cannot hear! Indeed, what the LORD says is offensive to them. They do not like it at all.

( They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.)

Who is wise? Let him discern these things! Who is discerning? Let him understand them! For the ways of the LORD are right; the godly walk in them, but in them the rebellious stumble.

“ You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors did!

Evil people do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it all.

They do not comprehend or understand, for their eyes are blind and cannot see; their minds do not discern.

But they do not know what the LORD is planning; they do not understand his strategy. He has gathered them like stalks of grain to be threshed at the threshing floor.

He said,“ Go and tell these people:‘ Listen continually, but don’t understand! Look continually, but don’t perceive!’

there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.
