The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.”

What was sown on the rocky places, this is he who hears the word, and immediately with joy receives it;yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

What evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, saying,“ Let him be crucified!”So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying,“ I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.”All the people answered,“ May his blood be on us, and on our children!”
