You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

You study the Scriptures carefully. You study them because you think they will give you eternal life. The Scriptures you study are a witness about me.

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,

which he promised afore through his prophets in the holy scriptures,

Oh how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day.Thy commandments make me wiser than mine enemies; For they are ever with me.I have more understanding than all my teachers; For thy testimonies are my meditation.

Hear instruction, and be wise, And refuse it not.Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.

Much every way: first of all, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God.

The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them?

Now the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, So he openeth not his mouth:In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: His generation who shall declare? Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.And ye shall teach them your children, talking of them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.And thou shalt write them upon the door- posts of thy house, and upon thy gates;

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate thereon day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God.

He asked life of thee, thou gavest it him, Even length of days for ever and ever.

But his delight is in the law of Jehovah; And on his law doth he meditate day and night.

To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,Honor thy father and thy mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet?

Like the dew of Hermon, That cometh down upon the mountains of Zion: For there Jehovah commanded the blessing, Even life for evermore.

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God,and knowest his will, and approvest the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests the Levites:and it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear Jehovah his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them;

But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.

Women received their dead by a resurrection: and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
