So the Jews said to him who was cured,“ It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”

猶太人便對那人說：「今天是安息日，你不可拿著墊子走路。」

因此猶太人對那醫好了的人說：“今天是安息日，你拿著褥子是不可以的。”

所以那些猶太人對那得了痊癒的人說：「今天是安息日，你拿著墊子是不可以的！」

是日、乃安息日、猶太人謂病愈者曰、茲乃安息日、爾取榻非宜也、

猶太人謂得愈者曰、今安息日、取床非宜、

猶太人謂病愈者曰、今乃安息日、爾負臥榻非宜也、

猶太人謂痊者曰：『禮日不當負榻。』

and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”

So the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath day. The law does not allow you to carry your mat.”

So the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”

so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured,“ You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”

and so the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ This is the Sabbath. The law prohibits you from picking up your mat.”

So the Jews were saying to the man who was cured,“ It is a Sabbath, and it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet.”

The Jews therefore said to him who was cured,“ It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”

So the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.

so the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ This is the Sabbath! It’s illegal for you to pick up your mat.”

The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry[ thy] bed.

So the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath, and you are not permitted to carry your mat.”

Yahweh says,“ Be careful, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem.

But some of the Pharisees said to them,“ Why do you do that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath day?”

In those days I saw some men treading wine presses on the Sabbath in Judah, bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys; also with wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day; and I testified against them in the day in which they sold food.Some men of Tyre also lived there, who brought in fish and all kinds of wares, and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them,“ What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day?Didn’t your fathers do this, and didn’t our God bring all this evil on us, and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”It came to pass that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. I set some of my servants over the gates, so that no burden should be brought in on the Sabbath day.So the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares camped outside of Jerusalem once or twice.Then I testified against them, and said to them,“ Why do you stay around the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on, they didn’t come on the Sabbath.

Some therefore of the Pharisees said,“ This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others said,“ How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” There was division among them.

The ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the multitude,“ There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day!”

For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.

The Pharisees said to him,“ Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”

He said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?” But they were silent.

But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him,“ Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”But he said to them,“ Haven’t you read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him;how he entered into God’s house, and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for those who were with him, but only for the priests?Or have you not read in the law, that on the Sabbath day, the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are guiltless?But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.But if you had known what this means,‘ I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you wouldn’t have condemned the guiltless.For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

“ If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of Yahweh honorable; and honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words,

“ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.You shall labor six days, and do all your work,but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your God. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates;for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak also to the children of Israel, saying,‘ Most certainly you shall keep my Sabbaths; for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies you.You shall keep the Sabbath therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Yahweh. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall surely be put to death.Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.’”

If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?

They returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

But if you will not listen to me to make the Sabbath day holy, and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem. It will not be quenched.”’”
