這是耶穌從猶太回到加利利以後所行的第二件神蹟。

於是耶穌離開猶太地區，又前往加利利地區。

神是我們的避難所和力量，是患難中隨時可得的幫助，

這時候，來了一個名叫睚魯的人，他是一個會堂主管。他俯伏在耶穌腳前，懇求耶穌到他家裡去，

過了些日子，耶穌又進了迦百農。人們聽說他在房子裡，許多人就聚集，甚至連門前都沒有空處了。於是耶穌就向他們講道。這時候，一些人帶了一個癱瘓的人來到耶穌那裡，是被四個人抬來的；

他一聽說是拿撒勒人耶穌，就開始呼叫說：「大衛的後裔——耶穌，可憐我吧！」

利達離約帕不遠，門徒們聽說彼得在利達，就派了兩個人到他那裡，懇求他說：「請你來到我們這裡，不要耽延！」

瑪麗亞到了耶穌那裡，一看見他，就俯伏在他的腳前，說：「主啊，如果你早在這裡，我弟弟就不會死了。」

人們跑遍那整個地區，聽到耶穌在哪裡，就把有病的人用墊子抬到哪裡。無論耶穌進到哪裡，或村莊、或城鎮、或鄉下，人們就把病人放在街市上，懇求耶穌只要讓他們摸一下他的衣服穗子。凡是摸著的人，都得了救治。

瑪妲對耶穌說：「主啊，如果你早在這裡，我弟弟就不會死了。

於是耶穌與他們一起去了。當耶穌離他家不遠的時候，百夫長又託了幾個朋友來對耶穌說：「主啊，不用麻煩了，我實在不配請你進我家，我自己也覺得不配到你那裡去。只要你說一句話，我的僕人就會痊癒的。事實上，我也被放在人的權下，也有士兵在我之下。我對這個說『去』，他就去；對那個說『來』，他就來；對我的奴僕說『做這事』，他就去做。」
