Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.

Jesus replied,“ Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires,to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.

Nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those written in the Lamb’s book of life.

He told them another parable:“ The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and mixed into fifty pounds of flour until all of it was leavened.”Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables, and he did not tell them anything without a parable,so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled: I will open my mouth in parables; I will declare things kept secret from the foundation of the world.

Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voice

Since you have purified yourselves by your obedience to the truth, so that you show sincere brotherly love for each other, from a pure heart love one another constantly,

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

And what if God, wanting to display his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience objects of wrath prepared for destruction?And what if he did this to make known the riches of his glory on objects of mercy that he prepared beforehand for glory—on us, the ones he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?As it also says in Hosea, I will call Not My People, My People, and she who is Unloved, Beloved.

What is a mere human, that he should be pure, or one born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness— without it no one will see the Lord.

Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, asked them,“ Does this offend you?Then what if you were to observe the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?The Spirit is the one who gives life. The flesh doesn’t help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance.But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct;for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.

If I have told you about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.

What then? Are we any better off? Not at all! For we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin,as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.All have turned away; all alike have become worthless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.Their throat is an open grave; they deceive with their tongues. Vipers’ venom is under their lips.Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.Their feet are swift to shed blood;ruin and wretchedness are in their paths,and the path of peace they have not known.There is no fear of God before their eyes.Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.
