西門說：「老師，我們整夜勞累，並沒有打着甚麼。但依從你的話，我就下網。」

他的夥伴西庇太的兒子雅各、約翰，也是這樣。耶穌對西門說：「不要怕！從今以後，你要得人了。」他們把兩隻船靠了岸，就撇下所有的，跟從了耶穌。

耶穌沿着加利利海邊行走，看見兩兄弟，就是那叫彼得的西門和他弟弟安得烈，正往海裏撒網；他們本是打魚的。耶穌對他們說：「來跟從我，我要叫你們得人如得魚一樣。」他們立刻捨了網，跟從他。

可見，栽種的算不了甚麼，澆灌的也算不了甚麼；惟有神能使它生長。

先知的門徒對以利沙說：「看哪，我們在你面前居住的地方，那裏對我們太窄小了。讓我們往約旦河去，各人從那裏取一根木料，在那裏為自己建造居住的地方。」他說：「你們去吧！」有一人說：「請你與僕人同去。」他說：「我可以去。」於是以利沙與他們同去。到了約旦河，他們砍伐樹木。有一人砍樹的時候，斧子的頭掉在水裏，他就喊着說：「不好了！我主啊，斧子是借來的。」神人說：「掉在哪裏了？」他把那地方指給以利沙看。以利沙砍了一塊木頭，拋在水裏，就使斧子的頭浮上來了。以利沙說：「拿起來吧！」那人就伸手拿起來了。

你們自己知道該怎樣效法我們。因為我們在你們當中從未懶散過，也從未白吃人的飯，倒是辛苦勞碌，晝夜做工，免得使你們中間有人受累。這並不是因我們沒有權柄，而是要給你們作榜樣，好讓你們效法我們。

你們自己知道，我靠兩隻手工作來供給我和同工的需用。

只有我和巴拿巴沒有權利不做工嗎？

弟兄們，你們記念我們的辛苦勞碌，晝夜做工，傳神的福音給你們，免得你們任何人受累。

他們本是製造帳棚為業。保羅因與他們同業，就和他們同住，一同做工。
