西门说：“主啊，我们整夜劳苦，毫无所得，不过，我愿照你的话下网。”

西门的伙伴，西庇太的儿子雅各、约翰也是这样。耶稣对西门说：“不要怕！从今以后，你要作得人的渔夫了。”他们把两只船拢了岸，撇下一切，跟从了耶稣。

耶稣在加利利海边行走的时候，看见兄弟二人，就是名叫彼得的西门和他的弟弟安得烈，正在把网撒到海里去；他们是渔夫。耶稣就对他们说：“来跟从我，我要使你们作得人的渔夫。”他们立刻撇下网，跟从了他。

所以，栽种的算不得什么，浇灌的也算不得什么，只在乎那使它生长的神。

众先知门徒对以利沙说：“请看，我们在你面前居住的那一个地方，对我们来说实在是太窄小了。请你让我们到约旦河，每人从那里取一根木头，我们要在那里为自己建造一个地方居住。”以利沙说：“你们去吧！”有一个门徒说：“请你和你的仆人们一起去。”他说：“我会去的。”他就和他们同去。他们到了约旦河，就砍伐树木。有一个门徒砍伐木头的时候，斧头掉到水里去了。他就喊着说：“惨啦！我主啊，这斧头是借回来的。”神人说：“掉在哪里呢？”于是他把那地点指给他看。他砍了一根木头，丢在那里，那斧头就浮上来了。以利沙说：“你自己拿上来吧。”他就伸手把它拿住了。

你们自己本来就知道应当怎样效法我们，因为我们在你们中间并没有游手好闲，也没有白吃过谁的饭，反而辛苦劳碌，昼夜作工，免得加重你们任何一人的负担。这不是因为我们没有权利，而是要给你们作榜样，好让你们效法我们。

我这两只手，供应了我和同伴的需要，这是你们自己知道的。

难道只有我和巴拿巴没有权利不作工吗？

弟兄们，你们应该记得我们的辛苦和劳碌；我们把神的福音传给你们的时候，怎样昼夜作工，免得你们有人受累。

他们是以做帐棚为业的，因为是同业，保罗就与他们同住，一同工作。
