耶稣又到了加利利的迦拿，就是他变水为酒的地方。有一个大臣，他的儿子在迦百农患病。

腓力找到拿但业，告诉他：“摩西在律法书上所写的，和众先知所记的那位，我们已经遇见了，他就是约瑟的儿子拿撒勒人耶稣。”拿但业说：“拿撒勒还能出什么好的吗？”腓力说：“你来看！”耶稣看见拿但业向他走过来，就论到他说：“看哪，这的确是个以色列人，他心里没有诡诈。”拿但业问他：“你怎么认识我呢？”耶稣回答：“腓力还没有招呼你，你在无花果树下的时候，我就看见你了。”拿但业说：“拉比，你是神的儿子，你是以色列的王！”耶稣说：“因为我告诉你‘我看见你在无花果树下’，你就信了吗？你还要看见比这些更大的事。”又对他说：“我实实在在告诉你们，你们要看见天开了，神的众使者在人子的身上，上去下来。”第三天，在加利利的迦拿有婚筵，耶稣的母亲在那里；

多马对他说：“我的主！我的神！”

这是耶稣所行的第一件神迹，是在加利利的迦拿行的。他显出了自己的荣耀，他的门徒就信了他。

到义伯仑、利合、哈们、加拿，直到西顿大城；

耶稣又往前走，看见另一对兄弟，就是西庇太的儿子雅各和他的兄弟约翰，正和父亲西庇太在船上整理鱼网，他就呼召他们。他们立刻离了船，别了父亲，跟从了耶稣。

西门的伙伴，西庇太的儿子雅各、约翰也是这样。耶稣对西门说：“不要怕！从今以后，你要作得人的渔夫了。”
