耶稣又来到加利利的迦拿，就是他把水变成酒的地方。有一个大臣，他的儿子在迦百农患了病。

腓力找到拿旦业，对他说：“我们发现了摩西在律法上所写的，和先知们所记的那一位。他就是约瑟的儿子，拿撒勒人耶稣。”拿旦业对他说：“拿撒勒还能出什么好的吗？”腓力说：“你来看吧！”耶稣看见拿旦业向他走来，就指着他说：“看，一个真正的以色列人！他里面没有诡诈。”拿旦业对耶稣说：“你怎么知道我呢？”耶稣回答说：“腓力叫你以前，你还在无花果树下，我就看见你了。”拿旦业说：“拉比，你是神的儿子，你是以色列的王！”耶稣对他说：“因为我说‘我看见你在无花果树下’，你就信吗？你将会看到比这更大的事。”耶稣又对他说：“我确确实实地告诉你们：你们将会看见天敞开了，神的天使们在人子上头，上去下来。”第三天，在加利利的迦拿有一个婚宴。耶稣的母亲在那里，

多马回答耶稣，说：“我的主，我的神！”

耶稣在加利利的迦拿行了这头一件神迹，显明了他的荣耀，他的门徒们就信了他。

耶稣从那里往前走，看见另外两个兄弟，就是西庇太的儿子雅各和他弟弟约翰，正在船上与他们的父亲西庇太一起修补渔网。耶稣就召唤他们，他们立刻舍弃了船，告别他们的父亲，跟从了耶稣。

西门的伙伴，就是西庇太的儿子雅各和约翰，也同样惊讶。耶稣对西门说：“不要怕！从今以后，你将得人了。”
