The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.

正是这个门徒，为这些事做见证，并记下了这些事，而且我们知道他的见证是真实的。

有关生命之道，是从太初就有的，是我们所听到、所亲眼看到、所观察过、又亲手摸过的——的确，这生命已经显明出来；我们看到了，现在也做见证，并向你们宣扬这永恒的生命；这生命原来与父同在、又向我们显明出来了。我们把所看到、所听到的也向你们宣扬，好使你们也能够与我们相契合；而我们又是与父和他的儿子耶稣基督相契合的。

并且你们也要做见证，因为你们从一开始就与我在一起。

所以，我这同做长老的、做基督苦难见证人的、也在那将要显现的荣耀中有份的，我恳求你们中间的长老们：

实际上，凡是先前被记载的，都是为了教导我们而写的，好让我们藉着忍耐和经上的安慰，怀有盼望。

那么，如果我们忽视了如此伟大的救恩，又怎么能逃脱报应呢？这救恩起初由主传讲，后来由那些听见的人向我们证实。神又照着自己的旨意，用神迹、奇事和各种大能，以及圣灵的各种恩赐，与他们一同见证。

我们就是他在犹太人之地和耶路撒冷所行的一切事的见证人。他们竟然把他挂在木头上杀了。

但这些事被记下来，是要你们相信耶稣就是基督、是神的儿子；并且使你们因着信，就奉他的名有生命。

我知道你总是在垂听我，但我这么说，是为了这些站在周围的民众，好让他们相信是你差派了我。”

耶稣看到母亲和他所爱的那门徒站在旁边，就对母亲说：“母亲，看哪，你的儿子！”

“我不仅为他们祈求，还为那些因他们的话而信我的人祈求，愿他们都合而为一。父啊，正如你在我里面，我也在你里面，愿他们也在我们里面，好让世界相信是你差派了我。

我为你们欢喜，因为我不在那里，好使你们可以相信。现在我们到他那里去吧。”
