第二天、就是豫備日、日落以後、祭司長和法利賽人聚集，去見彼拉多

是上午九點，他們把他釘十字架的。

於是耶穌出來到外邊，戴着荊棘華冠，穿着紫色衣裳！彼拉多對他們說：『看哪，這個人！』

就在那裏，為了猶太人之豫備日的緣故，因那墳墓相近，他們就把耶穌安放了。

已到傍晚，因為是豫備日，就是安息日的前夕，

彼拉多也寫了一個罪名，安在十字架上；寫的是：「拿撒勒人耶穌，猶太人的王！」當時有許多猶太人念了這罪名，（因為耶穌釘十字架的地點離城很近）；那罪名是用希伯來土話、和羅馬話、希利尼話寫的。猶太人的祭司長就對彼拉多說：『不要寫「猶太人的王！」；要寫「這人自己說：我是猶太人的王。」』彼拉多回答說：『我所寫了的，我已經寫上了。』

到了中午十二點、黑暗佈滿了整個地方，直到下午三點。下午三點的時候，耶穌大聲呼喊說：『以羅伊，以羅伊，拉馬撒巴各大尼？』翻譯出來就是說：『我的上帝，我的上帝，你為甚麼撇棄我？』

那一天是豫備日傍晚，安息日快到了。

因這一天是豫備日，為避免身體當安息日留在十字架上（因為那安息日是個大日），猶太人便求彼拉多叫人打斷他們的腿，給取去。就有士兵來了，把頭一個人的腿、和跟他同釘十字架那另一個人的腿、打斷了。

接續地來到他面前說：『猶太人的王，萬歲！』直給他耳刮子。
