He came near Jesus to kiss him,but Jesus said to him,“ Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”When those around him saw what was going to happen, they asked,“ Lord, should we strike with the sword?”Then one of them struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear.But Jesus responded,“ No more of this!” And touching his ear, he healed him.Then Jesus said to the chief priests, temple police, and the elders who had come for him,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs as if I were a criminal?Every day while I was with you in the temple, you never laid a hand on me. But this is your hour— and the dominion of darkness.”

“ Brothers and sisters, it was necessary that the Scripture be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David foretold about Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

He struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his ear.Then Jesus told him,“ Put your sword back in its place because all who take up the sword will perish by the sword.Or do you think that I cannot call on my Father, and he will provide me here and now with more than twelve legions of angels?How, then, would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”At that time Jesus said to the crowds,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal, to capture me? Every day I used to sit, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me.But all this has happened so that the writings of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and ran away.

Now when it was time for supper, the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son, to betray him.

But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”Then they all deserted him and ran away.

After Judas ate the piece of bread, Satan entered him. So Jesus told him,“ What you’re doing, do quickly.”None of those reclining at the table knew why he said this to him.Since Judas kept the money-bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him,“ Buy what we need for the festival,” or that he should give something to the poor.After receiving the piece of bread, he immediately left. And it was night.
