Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear.( The servant’s name was Malchus.)

About an hour later, another kept insisting,“ This man was certainly with him, since he’s also a Galilean.”But Peter said,“ Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

But again he denied it. After a little while those standing there said to Peter again,“ You certainly are one of them, since you’re also a Galilean.”Then he started to curse and swear,“ I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”

Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue, only a moment.

After a little while those standing there approached and said to Peter,“ You really are one of them, since even your accent gives you away.”
