When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby slapped him in the face.“ Is this the way you answer the high priest?” he demanded.

And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying,“ Do You answer the high priest like that?”

And when he had said this, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

When He had said these things, one of the temple police standing by slapped Jesus, saying,“ Is this the way you answer the high priest?”

And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

At that the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth.Then Paul said to him,“ God is going to strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit there judging me according to the law, and in violation of the law you order me to be struck?”Those standing near him said,“ Do you dare insult God’s high priest?”Paul replied,“ I did not realize, brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written,‘ You must not speak evil about a ruler of your people.’”

They came up to him again and again and said,“ Hail, king of the Jews!” And they struck him repeatedly in the face.

They detest me and maintain their distance; they do not hesitate to spit in my face.Because God has untied my tent cord and afflicted me, people throw off all restraint in my presence.On my right the young rabble rise up; they drive me from place to place, and build up siege ramps against me.

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,saying,“ Prophesy for us, you Christ! Who hit you?”

Now the men who were holding Jesus under guard began to mock him and beat him.They blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly,“ Prophesy! Who hit you?”

( 4: 14) But now slash yourself, daughter surrounded by soldiers! We are besieged! With a scepter they strike Israel’s ruler on the side of his face.

People have opened their mouths against me, they have struck my cheek in scorn; they unite together against me.

When he heard Jeremiah’s prophecy, he had the prophet flogged. Then he put him in the stocks which were at the Upper Gate of Benjamin in the LORD’s temple.

Then some began to spit on him, and to blindfold him, and to strike him with their fists, saying,“ Prophesy!” The guards also took him and beat him.

So Judas obtained a squad of soldiers and some officers of the chief priests and Pharisees. They came to the orchard with lanterns and torches and weapons.

The sovereign LORD has spoken to me clearly; I have not rebelled, I have not turned back.I offered my back to those who attacked, my jaws to those who tore out my beard; I did not hide my face from insults and spitting.But the sovereign LORD helps me, so I am not humiliated. For that reason I am steadfastly resolved; I know I will not be put to shame.
