And they kept coming up to him and saying,“ Hail, king of the Jews!” and were slapping his face.

They despise me and keep their distance from me; they do not hesitate to spit in my face.Because God has loosened my bowstring and oppressed me, they have cast off restraint in my presence.The rabble rise up at my right; they trap my feet and construct their siege ramp against me.

Then they spat in his face and beat him; others slapped himand said,“ Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who was it that hit you?”

The men who were holding Jesus started mocking and beating him.After blindfolding him, they kept asking,“ Prophesy! Who was it that hit you?”

Now, daughter who is under attack, you slash yourself in grief; a siege is set against us! They are striking the judge of Israel on the cheek with a rod.

They open their mouths against me and strike my cheeks with contempt; they join themselves together against me.

So Pashhur had the prophet Jeremiah beaten and put him in the stocks at the Upper Benjamin Gate in the LORD’s temple.

Then some began to spit on him, to blindfold him, and to beat him, saying,“ Prophesy!” The temple servants also took him and slapped him.

So Judas took a company of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees and came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.

The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I did not turn back.I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard. I did not hide my face from scorn and spitting.The Lord GOD will help me; therefore I have not been humiliated; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.
