“ I do not pray only for them. I pray also for everyone who will believe in me because of their message.

“我不仅为他们祈求，还为那些因他们的话而信我的人祈求，

「我不但為這些人祈求，也為那些藉着他們的話信我的人祈求，

「我不但為這些人祈求，也為那些藉着他們的話信我的人祈求，

「我不但為這些人祈求，也為那些因他們的話而信我的人祈求，

“我不但為他們求，也為那些因他們的話而信我的人求，

『我不單為這些人求，也為那些因他們的話而信我的人求；

「我不僅為他們祈求，還為那些因他們的話而信我的人祈求，

我不僅為彼祈、亦為因其言而信我者祈、

我不第為此人祈、乃為聽其言而信我者祈、

我不獨為此人祈、兼為聽其言而信我者祈、

予不第為彼等求、亦為耹彼等之言、而置信於予者求焉。

“ My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,

“ I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,

“ I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.

“ I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in me through their word.

“ I am not asking on behalf of these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word,

“ I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;

Neither for these only do I pray, but for them also that believe on me through their word;

I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Me through their message.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

“ I am not praying only on their behalf, but also on behalf of those who believe in me through their testimony,

Not for these only do I pray, but for those also who will believe in me through their word,

Those who accepted his message were baptized. About 3,000 people joined the believers that day.

But many who heard the message believed. The number of men who believed grew to about 5,000.

“ I have shown you to the disciples you gave me out of the world. They were yours. You gave them to me. And they have obeyed your word.Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.I gave them the words you gave me. And they accepted them. They knew for certain that I came from you. They believed that you sent me.I pray for them. I am not praying for the world. I am praying for those you have given me, because they are yours.All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. Glory has come to me because of my disciples.I will not remain in the world any longer. But they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name. It is the name you gave me. Keep them safe so they can be one, just as you and I are one.

So Christ himself gave the gift of the apostles to the church. He gave the prophets and those who preach the good news. And he also gave the pastors and teachers as a gift to the church.

The mystery has now been made known through the writings of the prophets. The eternal God commanded that it be made known. God wanted all the Gentiles to obey him by trusting in him.

I will speak about what Christ has done through me. I won’t try to speak about anything else. He has been leading the Gentiles to obey God. He has been doing this by what I have said and done.He has given me power to do signs and wonders. I can do these things by the power of the Spirit of God. From Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum I have finished preaching. In those places, I preached the good news about Christ.

Timothy, I am sending you this letter. You are my dear son. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy and peace.
