當人們正在說一切平安穩妥的時候，災禍會像產痛臨到孕婦一樣突然臨到他們，令他們無法逃脫。

驚恐萬狀，痛苦不堪如同分娩的婦人。他們必面面相覷，羞愧得面如火燒。

耶和華上帝對女人說：「我必大大加重你懷孕的痛苦，你分娩時必受痛苦。你必戀慕自己的丈夫，你的丈夫必管轄你。」

因為聖經上說：「不生育、未生養的婦人啊，要快樂；未曾生產的女子啊，要高聲歡呼，因為沒有丈夫的比有丈夫的兒女更多。」

祂賜給不育的婦人兒女，使她們成為快樂的母親。你們要讚美耶和華！

臨產的陣痛要臨到他，但他是毫無智慧的孩子，分娩之時卻不離開母腹。我要把他們從陰間的權勢下贖回嗎？我要救他們脫離死亡嗎？死亡啊，你去降災給他們吧！陰間啊，你去毀滅他們吧！我不會再憐憫他們。

撒拉說：「上帝使我歡笑，凡聽見這事的人也必跟我一同歡笑。誰曾料到我會為亞伯拉罕哺養孩子呢？我竟然在丈夫年老的時候給他生了兒子。」

她就懷孕，生了一個兒子，說：「上帝除去了我的羞辱。」她給孩子取名叫約瑟，又說：「願上帝再給我添一個兒子！」

耶和華啊，我們是你的子民，我們在危難中尋求你。你管教我們的時候，我們就向你祈求。耶和華啊，我們在你面前呼求，如臨產的婦人在陣痛中喊叫。我們曾懷胎，痛苦呻吟，但產下來的卻是一陣風。我們沒有給世界帶來拯救，也沒有給世上帶來生命。

錫安的百姓啊，你們要像分娩的婦人一樣輾轉呻吟，因為你們現在要離開這城，住在荒野，被擄到巴比倫。在那裡，你們將得到解救；在那裡，耶和華必從敵人手中救贖你們。

哈娜說：「我主啊，我敢在你面前起誓，我就是那一次站在你這裡向耶和華祈求的婦人。我求耶和華賜給我一個孩子，祂應允了我的祈求。

她懷了孕，正因產痛而呼叫。這時天上出現了另一個奇異的景象：有一條紅色巨龍出現，牠有七頭十角，每個頭上都戴著冠冕。牠的尾巴將天上三分之一的星掃落到地上。巨龍站在那正要生產的婦人面前，等著要吃掉她生下來的嬰孩。婦人生下一個男嬰，就是將來要用鐵杖治理列國的。那男嬰被提到了上帝的寶座那裡，

伊莉莎白的產期到了，生下一個兒子。親戚和鄰居聽見主向她大施憐憫，都和她一同歡樂。
