那時，你們隨從今世的風俗，順服在空中掌權的魔鬼，就是如今在一切叛逆上帝之人心中運行的邪靈。我們以前也在他們當中隨從罪惡的本性，放縱肉體和心中的私慾，與其他人一樣本是惹上帝發怒的人。然而上帝有豐富的憐憫，祂深愛我們，儘管我們死在過犯之中，祂仍然使我們和基督一同活了過來。你們得救是因為上帝的恩典。

從前我們也愚蠢、悖逆、易受迷惑，受各種私慾和享樂的驅使，心裡充滿了嫉妒和惡念，令人憎惡，也彼此憎恨。但我們的救主上帝向人彰顯了祂的恩慈和仁愛，藉著重生之洗和聖靈的更新拯救了我們，這並非因為我們有義行，而是因為祂的憐憫。上帝藉著我們的救主耶穌基督把聖靈豐豐富富地澆灌在我們身上。這樣，我們既然靠著祂的恩典而被稱為義人，就可以成為後嗣，有永生的盼望。

但你們是蒙揀選的族群，是君尊的祭司，是聖潔的國度，是上帝的子民，因此你們可以宣揚上帝的美德。祂曾呼召你們離開黑暗，進入祂奇妙的光明。從前你們不是上帝的子民，現在卻作了祂的子民；從前你們未蒙憐憫，現在卻蒙了憐憫。親愛的弟兄姊妹，你們是客旅，是寄居的，我勸你們要禁戒與靈魂為敵的邪情私慾。你們在異教徒當中要品行端正。這樣，儘管他們毀謗你們是作惡的人，但看見你們的好行為，也會在主來的日子把榮耀歸給上帝。

如果你們只愛那些愛你們的人，有什麼功勞呢？就是罪人也會這樣做。

你們從前長期沉溺於異教徒的嗜好——淫亂、縱慾、醉酒、狂歡、宴樂和可憎的偶像崇拜。

那一千年過後，撒旦會從被監禁的地方得到釋放。牠會再度欺騙天下各國，就是歌革和瑪各，叫他們召集軍隊準備打仗，軍隊的數目多如海沙。他們傾巢而出，佈滿大地，將聖徒的陣營和上帝所愛的城團團圍住。那時烈火從天而降，燒滅了他們。

巨龍大怒，轉而攻擊她的其他兒女，就是那些堅守上帝的誡命、為耶穌做見證的人。

牠和牠的天使都一同從天上被摔到地上。巨龍就是那古蛇，又名魔鬼或撒旦，也就是那迷惑全人類的。
