By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother and sister.For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we are to love one another;not as Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And for what reason did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil, but his brother’s were righteous.Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death.
And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them.And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all.For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the salesand lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be distributed to each to the extent that any had need.
