For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

Jesus knew who was going to hand him over to his enemies. That was why he said not every one was clean.

But there are some among you who don’t believe.”( For Jesus knew from the beginning those who did not believe and the one who would betray him.)He said,“ This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted to him by the Father.”From that moment many of his disciples turned back and no longer accompanied him.So Jesus said to the Twelve,“ You don’t want to go away too, do you?”Simon Peter answered,“ Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life.We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”Jesus replied to them,“ Didn’t I choose you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.”He was referring to Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son, one of the Twelve, because he was going to betray him.

When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in his spirit and testified,“ Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”

Jesus replied,“ He’s the one I give the piece of bread to after I have dipped it.” When he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son.

While I was with them, I was protecting them by your name that you have given me. I guarded them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture may be fulfilled.

“ I’m not speaking about all of you; I know those I have chosen. But the Scripture must be fulfilled: The one who eats my bread has raised his heel against me.

Now when it was time for supper, the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son, to betray him.

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for him if he had not been born.”Judas, his betrayer, replied,“ Surely not I, Rabbi?”“ You have said it,” he told him.
