How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?

But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments.They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men,‘ Rabbi, Rabbi.’

“ I do not receive honor from men.

And He said to them,“ You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ.

Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

Jesus answered,“ If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God.

And he said to him,‘ Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’

eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.

If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

Therefore the Lord God of Israel says:‘ I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now the Lord says:‘ Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

All the prosperous of the earth Shall eat and worship; All those who go down to the dust Shall bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep himself alive.

rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
