Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;

認識公義、銘記我訓誨的人啊，聽我說。你們不要害怕人的辱罵，也不要畏懼他們的譭謗。

不過，沒有人敢公開議論祂的事，因為害怕猶太人。

他父母因為害怕那些猶太人，所以才這樣說，因為那些猶太人早就商量好了，誰承認耶穌是基督，就把他趕出會堂。

懼怕人的必自陷網羅，信靠耶和華的必安穩。

「凡公開承認我的，我在天父面前也必承認他；

一天晚上，他來見耶穌，說：「老師，我們知道你是上帝差來教導人的，因為如果沒有上帝的同在，沒有人能行你所行的神蹟。」

任何靈若承認耶穌基督曾降世為人，就是從上帝來的，你們可以憑這一點認出上帝的靈。

許多來看瑪麗亞的猶太人看見耶穌所行的事，就信了祂，

因為有許多猶太人因為拉撒路的緣故離開他們，去信了耶穌。

法利賽人斥責他：「你這生來就深陷罪中的傢伙，居然敢教導我們！」於是把他趕了出去。

哪有官長和法利賽人信祂呢？這群不明白律法的民眾該受咒詛！」曾經夜訪耶穌、屬於他們當中一員的尼哥德慕說：「難道不聽被告申辯，不查明事實真相，我們的律法就定祂的罪嗎？」

你們為人子的緣故而遭人憎恨、棄絕、侮辱、毀謗，就有福了！

對耶和華的話心存敬畏的人啊，要聽祂的話：「你們的弟兄憎恨你們，因為我的緣故而棄絕你們，他們譏諷說，『願耶和華得榮耀，我們好看看你們的歡樂！』他們必受羞辱。

使徒離開公會後，為自己有資格為主的名受辱而歡喜。

當時，彼得還坐在外面的院子裡，有一個婢女走過來對他說：「你也是跟那個加利利人耶穌一夥的。」彼得卻當眾否認：「我不知道你在說什麼。」正當他走到門口要離開時，另一個婢女看見他，就對旁邊的人說：「這個人是跟拿撒勒人耶穌一夥的！」彼得再次否認，並發誓說：「我不認識那個人。」過了一會兒，旁邊站著的人過來對彼得說：「你肯定也是他們一夥的，聽你的口音就知道了。」彼得又賭咒又發誓，說：「我不認識那個人！」就在這時候，雞叫了。彼得想起耶穌說的話：「在雞叫以前，你會三次不認我。」他就跑出去，失聲痛哭。

「我告訴你們，凡在人面前承認我的，人子在上帝的天使面前也必承認他。

人們將把你們趕出會堂；時候將到，殺害你們的人還以為是在事奉上帝。

因為人心裡相信，就可以被稱為義人，口裡承認，就可以得救。

事後，有一個名叫約瑟的亞利馬太人請求彼拉多讓他為耶穌收屍。他因為畏懼猶太人，只是暗中做耶穌的門徒。彼拉多批准了，他就把耶穌的遺體領去。

「你們懼怕誰，以致對我說謊，不把我放在心上，忘記我？你們不再敬畏我，是因為我長期沉默嗎？

親愛的弟兄姊妹，若有火一般的試煉臨到你們，不要覺得奇怪，以為發生了什麼不尋常的事，反倒要歡喜，因為你們是與基督一起受苦。這樣，你們在祂的榮耀顯現時可以和祂一同歡喜快樂。如果你們為基督的緣故受辱駡，就有福了！因為上帝榮耀的靈常住在你們身上。你們誰也不可因殺人、偷盜、作惡或管閒事而受苦。若是為了作基督徒而受苦，不要覺得羞恥，要因這身分歸榮耀給上帝。

無論是誰，他若承認耶穌是上帝的兒子，上帝必住在他裡面，他也住在上帝裡面。
