But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected,

Judas, the betrayer, knew this place, because Jesus had often gone there with his disciples.The leading priests and Pharisees had given Judas a contingent of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove.Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him, so he stepped forward to meet them.“ Who are you looking for?” he asked.“ Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied.“ I Am he,” Jesus said.( Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.)

Then Jesus said,“ I chose the twelve of you, but one is a devil.”He was speaking of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who would later betray him.

Jesus responded,“ It is the one to whom I give the bread I dip in the bowl.” And when he had dipped it, he gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.

It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.

But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry.“ What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded.“ What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!”“ What have I done now?” David replied.“ I was only asking a question!”

Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless— like chasing the wind.
