坐席的或服事的，到底哪一個更大呢？難道不是坐席的嗎？然而我在你們中間，是像服事人的。

看哪，我站在門口敲門。如果有人聽見我的聲音就開門，我就會進到他那裡，而且我與他、他與我，將要一同吃宴席。

有一大群猶太人知道耶穌在那裡，就來了。他們不僅是為了耶穌的緣故，也是為了看拉撒路，就是耶穌使他從死人中復活的那個人。於是祭司長們就商議，連拉撒路也要殺掉，

耶穌在伯大尼，在痲瘋病人西門家裡坐席的時候，有一個女人拿著一個玉瓶進來。瓶裡盛著極其貴重的純哪噠香液。她打破玉瓶，把香液澆在耶穌的頭上。

他們繼續前行，耶穌進了一個村子，有一個名叫瑪妲的女人接待他。瑪妲有個妹妹，稱為瑪麗亞，坐在主的腳前聽他的話語。瑪妲為了很多伺候的事就心裡煩亂，上前來說：「主啊，我妹妹丟下我一個人伺候，你不管嗎？請叫她來幫我的忙吧。」主回答她，說：「瑪妲，瑪妲，你為很多事憂慮、煩惱，但是有一件事是需要的，而瑪麗亞選擇了那美好的一份，是不能從她那裡被拿去的。」

主人回來的時候，看見哪些奴僕警醒著，那些奴僕就蒙福了。我確實地告訴你們：主人會束上腰帶，請他們坐席，並來伺候他們。

耶穌說了這些話，就大聲呼喚：「拉撒路，出來！」那死了的人就出來了；手腳纏著布條，臉上包著頭巾。耶穌對他們說：「解開他，讓他走！」

利未在自己家裡為耶穌預備盛大的宴席，有一大群稅吏和其他人與他們一同坐席。

耶穌又對邀請他的人說：「你預備午餐或晚餐的時候，不要叫你的朋友、兄弟、親戚或富有的鄰居，免得他們也回請你，你就得了你的回報了。
