我們呢、就是這些事的見證。上帝對服從他權柄的人所賜的聖靈也作見證。』

約翰作見證說：『我見過聖靈、彷彿鴿子、從天上降下，停在耶穌上頭。

你可畏懼之事的能力、人要敘說；你作為之至大我要宣揚。你慈惠豐盛之令人懷念、他們要傾吐出來，你的義氣他們要呼頌。

那看見的人作了見證（他的見證是真實：他知道他是說實話），使你們也可以信。

法利賽人就對耶穌說：『你為自己作見證；你的見證不真實。』耶穌回答他們說：『我就使為自己作見證，我的見證還是真實，因為我知道我從哪裏來，要往哪裏去；你們卻不知道我從哪裏來，要往哪裏去。

但那幫助者、我從父那裏所要差來找你們的、真理之靈、從父而出的，那一位來的時候、就要為我作見證了。你們呢、也要作見證，因為從起初你們就同我在一起。

那時猶太人中有一大羣人知道耶穌在那裏，就來，不單是為了耶穌的緣故，也是要看他從死人中所甦活起來的拉撒路。

我本知道你時常聽我；但是為了周圍站着的羣眾、我才說話，叫他們相信是你差遣了我。」

約翰便為了上帝之道和耶穌基督作的見證、凡他自己在異象中所見過的、都作見證。

人的見證、我們若領受、上帝的見證是較大的：因為上帝的見證是為了他兒子而作的。信上帝兒子的、有這見證在他心裏；不信上帝的、已將上帝當做撒謊的了，因為他不信上帝為他兒子所作的見證。上帝將真而永的生命賜給我們；而這生命乃是在他兒子裏面：所見證的就是這個。擁有這兒子的、才有生命；沒有上帝兒子的、就沒有生命。

那些來看馬利亞的猶太人、見了耶穌所作的事，就有許多信了他的。但其中也有人往法利賽人那裏去，將耶穌所作的事告訴他們。

我看見了，就見證這一位是上帝所揀選的。』

當下那些同馬利亞在家裏撫慰她的猶太人見馬利亞趕快地起來出去，就跟着她，以為她要上墳墓那裏去哭呢。

以下是約翰的見證：當時猶太人從耶路撒冷差遣祭司和利未人來見約翰，詰問他說：『你是誰？』
