Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.“ What are we accomplishing?” they asked.“ Here is this man performing many signs.

So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and were saying,“ What are we going to do since this man is doing many signs?

那時，祭司長和民間的長老聚集在大祭司該亞法的官邸，

這是耶穌所行的第一件神蹟，是在加利利的迦拿行的。他顯出了自己的榮耀，他的門徒就信了他。

於是法利賽人彼此說：“你們看，你們都是徒勞無功，世人都去跟隨他了！”

可是我告訴你們，凡是向弟兄發怒的，都要被判罪。誰若罵弟兄：‘你這蠢貨！（蠢貨：原文音譯是“拉加”，是亞蘭文侮辱別人的用語。）’，就要被公議會判罪；誰若罵：‘你這白痴！（白痴：原文是希臘文罵人的詞語，但是有少數學者認為這詞語是源於希伯來文，而把它音譯為“魔利”，意思是“叛徒”。）’，就罪該送入烈火的地獄。

世上的君王起來，首領聚在一起，敵對耶和華和他所膏立的，說：“我們來掙斷他們給我們的束縛，擺脫他們的繩索！”那坐在天上的必發笑，主必譏笑他們。

第二天，猶太人的官長、長老、經學家，都聚集在耶路撒冷，還有大祭司亞那和該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，以及大祭司的家人，所有的人都在那裡。

祭司長和法利賽人早已下了命令：如果有人知道耶穌在哪裡，就要前來報告，好去逮捕他。

過兩天，就是逾越節和除酵節了，祭司長和經學家設法怎樣用詭計逮捕耶穌，把他殺害。他們說：“不可在節期下手，免得引起民眾暴動。”

使徒聽完了，就在黎明的時候，進到殿裡去教導。大祭司和他的同黨來到了，就召集了公議會和以色列人的眾長老，派人到監牢去帶使徒出來。

聖殿的守衛長和祭司長聽了這些話，覺得很困惑，不知道這件事將來會怎樣。

祭司長和經學家設法怎樣殺害耶穌，因為他們懼怕群眾。

到了早上，所有的祭司長和民間的長老商議怎樣對付耶穌，好殺掉他。他們把他綁起來，押去交給總督彼拉多。

希律和本丟．彼拉多，外族人和以色列民，真的在這城裡聚集，反對你所膏立的聖僕耶穌，行了你手和你旨意所預定要成就的一切。

說：“對這些人我們應該怎麼辦呢？因為有一件人所共知的神蹟，藉著他們行了出來，所有住在耶路撒冷的人都知道，我們也無法否認。為了避免這件事在民間越傳越廣，我們應該警告他們，不許再奉這名向任何人談道。”
