After he had said this, he went on to tell them,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.”

After he said this, Jesus went on speaking to them.“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep,” he said.“ But I am going there to wake him up.”

長眠於地下者、其數甚眾、必甦而起、得永生者有之、受永辱者有之、

入曰、胡為號咷而哭乎、女非死、寢耳、

屈膝大呼曰、主乎、勿以此罪歸之、言畢而逝、掃羅見其死、亦喜、

謂之曰、退、女非死、乃寢耳、眾哂之、

若我信耶穌死而甦、我亦當信上帝將使宗耶穌而死者、與耶穌俱至、我奉主命而言、迨主臨日、我儕尚生存、必不先諸死者起、

耶穌言此、指其死、門徒意其謂安寢也、

經云、寢宜寤、死當起、基督賜爾光、

主為我死、使我或存或亡、與主俱生、

我以奧妙示爾、吾眾無盡死、而悉能化、

墓啟、而既逝之聖、其身多復起出墓者、

故遣人就耶穌曰、主所愛者病矣、

耶和華與摩西晤對、如人與友相語、摩西歸營、惟嫩之子約書亞。為摩西從者、弗離於幕。

昔有人居斯土、上帝啟以色列族而驅之、亞伯拉罕為上帝所眷顧、遂以斯土錫其苗裔、俾為恆業。

謂摩西曰、爾必返本、斯民既詣斯土、必遺棄我、背我所立之約、狥己私欲、從異邦人之上帝。

宜儆醒、勿犯罪、有人不知上帝、吾言此以愧爾、

新娶者有新婦、新娶者之友立以待、聞新娶者之聲則甚喜、如是、我喜甚矣、

應經所云、亞伯拉罕信上帝、遂得稱義、於是亞伯拉罕為上帝所愛、

人為友捐命、愛無有大於此者、爾遵我命即我友矣、今而後、我不僕爾、以僕不知主所行、我惟友爾、以我聞於父者、皆示爾也、

我誠告爾、時至、今是也、死者必聞上帝子之聲、而聞之者必生、父自有生、賜子自有生亦如是、且賜權以審判、因其為人子也、勿以此為奇、時至、凡墓內者、將聞人子聲而出、為善者復起以得生、為惡者復起以受罪、

言竟大聲呼曰、拉撒路、出、死者即出、手足縛布、面裹巾、耶穌曰、解之使行、

昔我眷顧亞伯拉罕、簡其後裔、以色列族雅各家、為我臣僕。

即宗基督而死者、亦沉淪也、
