Many of them said,“ He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?”

Many of them said,“ He is controlled by a demon. He has gone crazy! Why should we listen to him?”

Some said,“ He’s demon possessed and out of his mind. Why listen to a man like that?”

He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”Then the Jews answered and said to Him,“ Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”

When he had said these things, the king stood up, as well as the governor and Bernice and those who sat with them;and when they had gone aside, they talked among themselves, saying,“ This man is doing nothing deserving of death or chains.”Then Agrippa said to Festus,“ This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”

But the Pharisees said,“ He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.”

And when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews,“ If it were a matter of wrongdoing or wicked crimes, O Jews, there would be reason why I should bear with you.But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters.”

Then they reviled him and said,“ You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where He is from.”

He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

Now as he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice,“ Paul, you are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!”

The officers answered,“ No man ever spoke like this Man!”Then the Pharisees answered them,“ Are you also deceived?Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”Nicodemus( he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,“ Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”They answered and said to him,“ Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”

It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

but had some questions against him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who had died, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.And because I was uncertain of such questions, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be judged concerning these matters.
