The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said,“ I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life giving power to his Son.

I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us,to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”

But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Jesus told him,“ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,“ Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

Jesus told her,“ I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.

Jesus replied,“ My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.

the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.”

He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!”

And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

“ I, the Lord, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness. I will take you by the hand and guard you, and I will give you to my people, Israel, as a symbol of my covenant with them. And you will be a light to guide the nations.You will open the eyes of the blind. You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons.

And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

that the Messiah would suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, and in this way announce God’s light to Jews and Gentiles alike.”

“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.”

I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will brighten the darkness before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them.

The Scriptures tell us,“ The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam— that is, Christ— is a life giving Spirit.

For just as the Father gives life to those he raises from the dead, so the Son gives life to anyone he wants.

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.

Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

“ But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.

Say to those with fearful hearts,“ Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.”And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf.

You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses. You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor.You have shaken our land and split it open. Seal the cracks, for the land trembles.You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling.

They trust in their wealth and boast of great riches.
