我呼唤，你们不肯听从；我伸手，没有人理会。

光来到世上，世人因为自己的行为邪恶，不爱光倒爱黑暗，定他们罪的原因，就在这里。凡作恶的都恨光，不来接近光，免得他的恶行暴露出来。

因为他们恨恶知识，不选择敬畏耶和华；

至于我，我却像一只驯良的羊羔，被牵到屠宰之地；我并不知道他们设计谋害我。他们说：“我们来把这树和果子（“果子”原文作“它的食物”）都毁灭吧，把它从活人之地剪除，使它的名不再被人记念。”

这邪恶的人民，不肯听从我的话，他们随着自己顽梗的心行事，随从别的神，事奉敬拜他们；所以他们必像这根腰带，毫无用处。

然而他们对神说：‘离开我们吧，我们不愿意晓得你的道路。全能者是谁，竟要我们服事他呢？我们若向他恳求，有什么益处呢？’

这人民为什么背道，耶路撒冷为什么长久偏离？他们定意行诡诈，不肯回转。

他们既然故意不认识神，神就任凭他们存着败坏的心，去作那些不正当的事。

你们理当醒悟过来，不要犯罪，因为你们中间有人不认识神；我说这话是要你们羞愧。

笼中怎样满了雀鸟，他们的屋里也满了诡诈；他们就因此财雄势大。

我的子民因无知识而灭亡；因为你拒绝了知识，我必拒绝你，不让你作我的祭司；因为你忘掉了你神的律法，我也必忘记你的子孙。

我听见许多人耳语：“玛歌珥．米撒毕！告发他，我们要告发他！”我所有的知己朋友都等着看我行差踏错，他们说：“希望他会上当，我们就可以胜过他，向他报复。”

他们说：“来吧！我们来设计对付耶利米；因为祭司的律法、智慧人的谋略、先知的话都不会断绝。来吧！我们用舌头攻击他，不理会他的一切话。”

耶和华啊！求你救我脱离说谎的嘴唇，救我脱离诡诈的舌头。诡诈的舌头啊！他要给你什么呢？他要加给你什么呢？就是勇士的利箭，和罗腾木烧的炭火。我寄居在米设，住在基达的帐棚中，有祸了。我和恨恶和平的人，同住得太久。
