只隨從自己心意之頑強，隨從眾巴力，就是他們列祖所教導他們行的。

乃縱私欲崇事巴力、效祖之尤。

放縱私欲、傚法其祖、崇拜巴力、

他们却没有听从，也不留心，反倒按着他们的计谋，随从自己顽梗的恶心行事，向后不向前。

‘那时，人必称耶路撒冷为耶和华的宝座，万国要聚集到她那里，因耶和华名的缘故来到耶路撒冷；他们必不再随从自己顽梗的恶心行事。

怎样在犹太教中比许多本族同辈的人更激进，为我祖先的传统分外热心。

因为他们虽然知道神，却不尊他为神，也不感谢他，反而心思变为虚妄，愚顽的心就迷糊了。他们自以为是聪明的，却成了愚蠢的。他们用必朽坏的人、飞禽、走兽和昆虫的形象，取代了永不朽坏的神的荣耀。因此，神就任凭他们顺着心中的私欲去作污秽的事，以致羞辱自己的身体。

因为知道你们得赎，脱去你们祖先传下的妄行，不是凭着能坏的金银等物，

不要效法你们的列祖那样，从前的先知呼唤他们：万军之耶和华这样说，你们要回转，离开你们的恶道和恶行。他们却不听从，也不理会我（这是耶和华的宣告）。你们的列祖在哪里呢？那些先知能永远活着吗？

所以，我要这样说，并且要在主里肯定地说：你们行事为人不要再像教外人，存着虚妄的意念。他们的心思昏昧，因为自己无知，心里刚硬，就与神所赐的生命隔绝了。他们既然麻木不仁，就任凭自己放纵情欲，贪行各样污秽的事。

众祭司都不问：‘耶和华在哪里？’律法师不认识我，官长悖逆我，先知奉巴力的名说预言，跟从那无益的偶像。

“你怎么能说：‘我没有玷污自己，未曾跟从过巴力’呢？看看你在谷中的行径，想想你所作过的！简直像快捷的小雌驼，在路上乱闯；

我们从前也都和他们在一起，放纵肉体的私欲，随着肉体和心意所喜好的去行；我们与别人一样，生来都是可怒的儿女。

耶和华看见人在地上的罪恶很大，终日心里思念的，尽都是邪恶的。

我们口中说过的一切话，我们一定去作，我们要向天后烧香，浇奠祭，好像我们自己和我们的列祖，以及我们的君王和领袖，在犹大的各城和耶路撒冷的街上所行的一样。那时我们吃得饱，得享福乐，不见灾祸。
