I hearkened and heard,[ but] they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.

我傾耳諦聽、人無正直之言、無悔罪之心、而內自訟焉、彼疾行其道、若馬之臨陳馳驅。

我傾耳細聽、聞彼出言不正、無人悔其惡行曰、我所為何哉、彼各仍奔其道、若馬之臨陣馳驟、

I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. None of them repent of their wickedness, saying,“ What have I done?” Each pursues their own course like a horse charging into battle.

I have listened carefully. But they do not say what is right. They refuse to turn away from their sins. None of them says,‘ What have I done?’ Each of them goes their own way. They are like horses charging into battle.

I have paid attention and listened, but they have not spoken rightly; no man relents of his evil, saying,‘ What have I done?’ Everyone turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.

I listen to their conversations and don’t hear a word of truth. Is anyone sorry for doing wrong? Does anyone say,“ What a terrible thing I have done”? No! All are running down the path of sin as swiftly as a horse galloping into battle!

I have paid careful attention. They do not speak what is right. No one regrets his evil, asking,‘ What have I done?’ Everyone has stayed his course like a horse rushing into battle.

I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying,“ What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand,[ and] seek God.

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

The good[ man] is perished out of the earth: and[ there is] none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard[ it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils[ is] terrible.He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in[ his] strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that[ it is] the sound of the trumpet.He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.

Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be[ any] that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

He looketh upon men, and[ if any] say, I have sinned, and perverted[ that which was] right, and it profited me not;He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

A wild ass used to the wilderness,[ that] snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.

And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

And he saw that[ there was] no man, and wondered that[ there was] no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD[ is] a God of judgment: blessed[ are] all they that wait for him.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
