“ Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves! Let’s enter into the fortified cities, and let’s be silent there; for Yahweh our God has put us to silence, and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against Yahweh.

我們為甚麼靜坐不動呢？聚集攏來哦，我們好進入有堡壘的城，在那裏寂滅掉；因為永恆主我們的上帝命定我們寂滅，將毒苦水給我們喝，因為我們犯罪得罪了永恆主。

我儕靜坐何為乎、其會集而入鞏固之邑、隕亡於彼、我上帝耶和華飲我以毒水、使我隕亡、緣我干犯耶和華也、

先知告民曰、我儕坐此曷故、必會眾入城、在彼默默無語、我獲罪於我之上帝耶和華、使我嘗膽、無詞可述。

Why are we sitting here? Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there! For the Lord our God has doomed us to perish and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against him.

Why are we sitting here? Let’s gather together! Let’s run to the cities that have high walls around them! Let’s die there! The Lord our God has sentenced us to death. He has given us poisoned water to drink. That’s because we’ve sinned against him.

“ Then the people will say,‘ Why should we wait here to die? Come, let’s go to the fortified towns and die there. For the Lord our God has decreed our destruction and has given us a cup of poison to drink because we sinned against the Lord.

Why are we just sitting here? Gather together; let’s enter the fortified cities and perish there, for the LORD our God has destroyed us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

The people say,“ Why are we just sitting here? Let us gather together inside the fortified cities. Let us at least die there fighting, since the LORD our God has condemned us to die. He has condemned us to drink the poison waters of judgment because we have sinned against him.

Therefore Yahweh of Armies says concerning the prophets:“ Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”

Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says,“ Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them poisoned water to drink.

Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the bitterness.

But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, we said,‘ Come! Let’s go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we will dwell at Jerusalem.’”

David said to Abishai,“ Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your lord’s servants, and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.”

They also gave me poison for my food. In my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.

they gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink.

lest there should be among you man, woman, family, or tribe whose heart turns away today from Yahweh our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that produces bitter poison;

Declare in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say,‘ Blow the trumpet in the land!’ Cry aloud and say,‘ Assemble yourselves! Let’s go into the fortified cities!’Set up a standard toward Zion. Flee for safety! Don’t wait; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.”

“ When a man’s relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house,‘ Is there yet any with you?’ And he says,‘ No;’ then he will say,‘ Hush! Indeed we must not mention Yahweh’s name.’

Then Moses said to Aaron,“ This is what Yahweh spoke of, saying,‘ I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron held his peace.

Be silent, all flesh, before Yahweh; for he has roused himself from his holy habitation!”

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it on him.

I was mute with silence. I held my peace, even from good. My sorrow was stirred.

But Yahweh is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!”

We acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.

The priest shall set the woman before Yahweh, and let the hair of the woman’s head go loose, and put the meal offering of memorial in her hands, which is the meal offering of jealousy. The priest shall have in his hand the water of bitterness that brings a curse.The priest shall cause her to take an oath and shall tell the woman,“ If no man has lain with you, and if you haven’t gone aside to uncleanness, being under your husband’s authority, be free from this water of bitterness that brings a curse.But if you have gone astray, being under your husband’s authority, and if you are defiled, and some man has lain with you besides your husband—”then the priest shall cause the woman to swear with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall tell the woman,“ May Yahweh make you a curse and an oath among your people, when Yahweh allows your thigh to fall away, and your body to swell;and this water that brings a curse will go into your bowels, and make your body swell, and your thigh fall away.” The woman shall say,“ Amen, Amen.”“‘ The priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall wipe them into the water of bitterness.He shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causes the curse; and the water that causes the curse shall enter into her and become bitter.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, of the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are poison grapes. Their clusters are bitter.

Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. They said to one another,“ Why do we sit here until we die?If we say,‘ We will enter into the city,’ then the famine is in the city, and we will die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let’s surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die.”
